Baffin Gear Real-World Tested™: ELORA MID, BASE LAYER LINER SOCK, TRAIL SOCKRAIN JACKET PROTOTYPE

A Bold Start to the Journey

In September, Baffin embarked on a new adventure through the iconic landscapes of Europe, on the famed hiking circuit Tour du Mont Blanc. Led by Baffin partner Women Who Explore, whose mission is to empower women in the outdoors, Marketing Specialist, Sidney Durante, set out to Real-World Test select Baffin gear while celebrating  the launch of international shipping in France and Italy, two of the countries crossed during this legendary trek.

Overnight thunderstorms welcomed the group on Day 1, soaking the trail and transforming the route into a challenging mix of wet rock, thick mud, and slick forest floor. For safety, the groups guide made the call to reroute the trek, trimming approximately 4 km from the day’s journey to avoid sections made dangerous by the rain.

ELORA MID | Built for the Elements

From the first descent, the terrain tested both balance and stability, as Sidney navigated shifting surfaces and technical footing. Baffin’s newly launched hiking boot, ELORA MID, quickly proved indispensable, delivering confidence through each step. Its heel-secure locking system prevented toe jamming and provided a snug, supported fit that adapted to every incline and descent.

With the boot, Sidney layered with Baffin’s BASE LAYER LINER SOCK and TRAIL SOCK, a combination that offered blister-free comfort and temperature control. It was a crucial pairing for maintaining dry, warm feet in ever-changing alpine conditions.

Looking Ahead

The first day of the Tour set the tone for what promises to be an extraordinary expedition. From the demanding descents to the relentless rain, the day served as the ultimate proving ground for Baffin innovation and endurance.

As Alpine Odyssey | Mont Blanc Trek: Side Trails continues, Day 2 is expected to push boundaries even further, introducing the most technically challenging terrain yet.

Stay tuned as we continue to follow Sidney across the Mont Blanc range, where every climb, step, and summit becomes another chapter in Baffin’s Real-World TestingTM story.
